I kept a beautiful part of myself hidden for a long time. Since accepting myself, I have continued to bloom, sometimes softly and sometimes like an explosion. The Bloom Radius series explores the stories carried by bodies and the meanings held by flowers.
White daisies, black-eyed Susans, and larkspur rise above a grounded figure. Associated with new beginnings, resilience, and an open heart, the flowers bloom too abundantly to be contained. This painting honors the courage to become open despite everything that has taught us to close down.
Original painting
12×16 acrylic on cradled board

5×7 matted to 8×10
8×10 matted to 11×14
